Pottery Wheel Classes with Chris
My husband, Chris, runs workshops in pottery throwing for 1 to 4 people with a wheel each (see his website for more information on his pottery classes) and we offer a combined (with glass fusing or enamelling) 1-day or half-day course in our workshops in Worcester. Great for a taster of 2 crafts and makes a fun experience day for couples, friends or families. Learn more about the glass fusing part here.
In the pottery sessions you get to make some pots on the wheel under expert guidance. The benefit of using slips (coloured liquid clay) instead of glazes is that you are able to decorate your pots with the coloured slips in the same session. All pots are dried after the session then biscuit fired and then Chris adds a food-safe clear glaze to the pots and another firing for you. Your finished pots will be ready for collection 3-4 weeks after the class. All materials and firing of your pieces are included in the prices.
Your booking is for a private workshop, just for you and you won't be joined by others (except perhaps over lunch if another group is doing the glass course the same day). You can buy a gift voucher which is valid for 1 year and can be personalised or enquire by email about specific dates.
Prices start at:
£80 for 1-2-1 sessions (1.5 hours). Discounts are available for multiple 1-1 sessions (£70 per lesson for set of 5-9 lessons, £65 per lesson for 10 or more lessons) booked at the same time.
£120 for 2 people booking together (1.5 hours). Discounts are available for multiple (2 person) sessions (£110 per lesson for set of 5-9 lessons, £100 per lesson for 10 or more lessons) booked at the same time.
£165 for 3 people booking together (1.5 hours). Discounts are available for multiple (3 person) sessions (£150 per lesson for set of 5-9 lessons, £100 per lesson for 10 or more lessons) booked at the same time.

Recent reviews: ""Chris was a very knowledgeable, patient and encouraging teacher and it was great to have some one to one tuition."
"I went with my mother in law as a joint Christmas present from my sister in law and we had a fabulous time! We've both done a bit before and Chris was very adaptable, gauged our abilities very quickly and supported us as and when needed. We both felt much more confident as a result! He offered lots of tips and suggested various methods that helped me find my feet again on a wheel. He taught me alternative methods for handles and glazing that were interesting and much easier than I had learnt previously! The morning flew by and we had a wonderful time! Totally recommended and hope to go again soon!"
"I booked 6 lessons with Chris and enjoyed every minute. Chris is a skilled teacher, very encouraging, explains everything really clearly and helps you produce beautiful pieces of pottery. I came away with an assortment of mugs, bowls and little vases, a full set of clay stamps (which were fun designing!) and a knowledge of how to throw, slip and decorate my creations." "
